24 11月, 2007で加えられる インスピレーションI have a bitter memory from childhood. One day in my 1st grade class, we were learning about the colour red. My teacher asked us to colour a page with an outline of a barn on it, only in red. I remember taking out my Crayola 34 pack (or something like that) and pulling out all of the shades and hues of red that I could find: red, orange-red, magenta, pink, cranberry, and so on. I began to colour in the barn with all of these brilliant shades of red. Within a few minutes, however, my teacher marched over to my desk and looked down at me with the utmost of disapproval. "What are you doing?" She cried. I froze. The epitome of well-behaved, I had never been scolded by a teacher, much less in front of my classmates. She cried that I was not following directions. "I tell you to colour this entire picture in with red and you take out oranges and pinks!" She took away my page and gave me a fresh one. With horror, and wondering how in the world those colours couldn't be forms of red and why in the world would anyone want a picture colored only with solid "red" crayola, I bit back my tears and obediently coloured the new page only with flat red. This palette is dedicated to my 6-year-old self and the ways in which 6-year-olds are often more perceptive and more brilliant than old stick-in-the-mud 1st grade teachers. 説明Different reds. ![]() ![]() |
