November - Bela Lugosi (hun. Lugosi Béla) aka. Count Dracula

Béla Lugosi - born Béla Ferenc Dezso Blasko on October 20, 1882, Lugos, Hungary (now Lugoj, Romania) - was a Hungarian actor of stage and screen, well known for playing Count Dracula in the Broadway play and subsequent film version. In the last years of his career he featured in several of Ed Wood's low budget films. Died of a heart attack August 16, 1956. Buried in his full Dracula costume, including a cape.

Oktober - Győző Vásárhelyi aka. the op-art painter Vasarely

Best known as the "father" figure of Op Art, Vasarely went through a number of styles to get there. During his start as a graphic designer, he was influenced by the artists of the Bauhaus and early Abstract Expressionism. He unstintingly took these principles to new levels of geometric precision and fostered the Op Art movement. His brilliant works went mainstream, in the forms of posters and fabrics. Not lacking in confidence, Vasarely used the proceeds to design and build his own museum.

September - Kékfestő = Blue-dyeing

"Kékfestő" is the Hungarian name of a special dying methode (eng. blue-dying, germ. Porcellandruck), similar to batik. On the 100% cotton fabric, which is originaly white, will be first the pattern printed with a wood or metal pattern frame. The dye used for the pattern contains special chemicals (with wax) which protect the fabric from the indigo dye. After the pattern is dry the dyer master dyes the fabric with indigo. The last step is that the pattern dye will be removed in a weak acid.
